That is a great photo! I didn’t know the Georgians used a unique alphabet.
Further, I just discovered this blog and I think it’s terrific. When I was a teenager, I used to write letters to LCMS overseas missionaries. I still have the stacks of letters I got in response. Some even sent me photos. And that was before e-mail.
Scott–you can still “correspond” with missionaries through the many news items that come from the field. Go to http://www.lcms.org?2320. You’ll see plenty of news about what missionaries are doing and can subscribe to some of World Mission’s automatic news features.
BTW–I did not know Georgia had a unique alphabet either!
Tomorrow (May 14) is St. Matthias’ Day in the church calendar. Early church fathers indicate that Western Georgia was where he did his mission work before being martyred.
