Home service update from missionaries Matt and Dee Dee Wasmund

International, National

“Greetings from the mission field of the United States. After arriving earlier this month, one of the joys we have had is visiting various churches for the first time. To facilitate orientation for new LCMS World Mission missionaries, Matt traveled to St Paul, Minn., and was given the chance to share at Bethel Lutheran Church and its branch, African Evangelistic Ministries. Deacon Lusienie Fofana (pictured above with Matt) is about to enter a specialized program of theological education at Concordia Seminary in St Louis, Mo. Under the mentorship of Bethel’s pastor, Rev. David Seabaugh, Fofana is preparing for seminary classes, working full-time, and leading a congregation composed mainly of Africans from the country of Liberia.

“This is but one example of the different ministries that are taking place in your community across the United States. We praise the Lord for Deacon Fofana and for all the missionaries, overseas and local, who share the Good News of Jesus Christ. How are you sharing this message with those around you?”

These two men have played an important role in my life. Fofana as a friend and brother in St. Paul as I worked for Concordia Academy and Matt as I worked for two years in Taiwan. Great to see great friends meeting each other!
