Hong Kong Street Sleepers Party
Tue, Jan 20, 2009
Long-time missionary Carol Halter befriends, visits, and shows Christ’s love to many of Hong Kong’s homeless people (or ’street sleepers’). Every year, she organizes volunteers and throws a party for them! This year, the venue was Concordia Lutheran School, one of the LCHKS (Lutheran Church - Hong Kong Synod) schools.
Each of the 50+ street sleepers was given a big bag full of candies and snacks, an even bigger bag full of clothes (which they picked out themselves), a new sweat suit, and a delicious meal. In addition to caring for physical needs, the event also provided some spiritual nourishment, in the form of Christmas songs and a Cantonese-language worship service.

For several years Wisconsin deaconesses of the Lutheran Deaconess Conference have been sending Epiphany care packages to Carol. We have received gracious notes back from her. How nice it is to be able to view some pictures that help us to have a better sense of the ministry that Carol shares with others in the area. We hold her in our prayers.
