Asia, Good News from the Field

“We were married at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Leawood, Kansas, on Jan. 24 in front of friends, family, and God. It was an exciting time for both of us to go home during the school year for Chinese New Year and see so many people. We feel rested and refreshed as we return for another semester at Concordia.

“Our wedding has been a wonderful experience to share our faith and love with friends, students, and co-workers in Taiwan. Before we returned to the United States in January, we were able to share our Taiwan engagement pictures and talk about what our wedding would be like. Everyone wanted to know if it would be a ‘Christian’ wedding and what that meant. We talked with people about how we wanted the focus of our wedding and marriage to be on God. It is because of Jesus’ sacrificial love for us that we met in Taiwan and found a passion for sharing this love with others. The focus of our life together is to show others how much Jesus loves them!

“This also was hard for some people to understand. Many students were surprised that we did not live together before we were married. One student told me, ‘All Americans live together before they are married! I see it in the movies!’ I explained to her that Christians believe that marriage is special and God makes some things special for husbands and wives. It was a great opportunity to share our faith through
such a fun event!”

  1. Rev. Richard A. Krugler says:

Thanks for an uplifting testimony of your faith and how you used the opportunity to witness to the people present about God’s will for marriage. It is extremely unfortunate that so many people in other countries, not to mention the U.S.A., believe that the movies present the “normal” life in the U.S.A.
