“One of my great pleasures in teaching is Monday mornings at the preschool. Every Monday, I arrive at 9:30 a.m. and dearly love being with these young children. Every week we learn a song or some new words (in categories such as colors, pets, clothes, etc.), and afterward I give the children each a page to color with a picture related to our topic. A few weeks ago, I taught them the song ‘God made me.’ It’s a very simple song with simple, repetitive words. The second verse is ‘God loves me.’ Because I was teaching a song and not vocabulary, I didn’t have anything with me for them to color. So instead I asked them to draw a picture of what God’s love looks like. There were many adorable little pictures of hearts and smiley faces and so on, but two pictures were particularly striking. In the first, one little girl drew a picture of herself and Jesus with a heart around it. The other was a picture of a castle with smiling people looking down from the ramparts and a cross on the castle wall.

“Another of my great pleasures is Tuesday evenings with my adult conversation class. Every week, we read out of ‘100 Bible Stories,’ and each of the stories we read is connected to Christ and His Gospel at the end with a few well-worded questions. So, every week I have an incredible opportunity to clearly present the Gospel of Christ crucified for sinners, and invariably, even in a class with a few non-believers, I have a completely attentive group.

“This past week was no exception. We talked about the golden calf incident at the foot of Mt. Sinai. It was wonderful, as usual, to connect to Christ at the end. Then, one of the non-Christians, started to write down the name of the story, saying that she was going to look it up on the Internet, and maybe try to find a Bible at the library so she could read in Czech and understand it better! Praise the Lord for this! I hope and pray that she does, and that God opens her eyes and gives her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ through the power of His Holy Spirit!”
