“In Madrid, God’s work continues to produce fruit. One of them is Tomas Rubio, who contacted Lutheran missionaries via Internet to find out more about the Lutheran Church. Beginning in January, he began to attend worship services regularly. He now has Bible materials and pastoral support through our missionary, Gustavo Lavia, so that his faith may become anchored in the Word. We pray for God’s positive influence on Tomas and we encourage him to rejoice in his grace.

“Missionary Walter Ralli and his family made another trip to Asturias, in northern Spain, in February. His time there included a Bible study and the celebration of a worship service. There were nine of us that attended the worship service to witness Daniel Cancio Bodas’ confirmation of faith. He is 19 years old and the Holy Spirit has created faith in him through God’s Word. He has been convinced of sin and has experienced immense mercy and grace of God in Christ Jesus. This Good News has impacted and penetrated his life so much he desires to dedicate himself completely to the service of the Gospel. He says that Christ’s love is his ‘gain’ and all else is considered as ‘lost.’ May God sustain him in his conviction!

“On Feb. 28, the missionary Walter Ralli traveled to Valencia. This trip responded to needs that have developed in that area. The council of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Spain (IELE) agreed it was wise to visit. March 1, 2009 has already entered the annals of the history of the IELE such as the day in which we have celebrated the first worship service in Valencia. It was immensely joyful for us to live this moment and it is our most profound desire that the body and the blood of Christ received beneath the bread and wine fortifies the church’s faith even more, as it does with all of us. Also we should mention that on March 29, in the home of Victoria and Pilar, a group of seven people gathered to study a lesson that was developed by the Catechist Javier Sanchez Ruiz for teaching laypeople of the IELE about basic Christian doctrine.”
