Ablaze!, National

At the Ablaze! Covenant Congregation Training, we expected two congregations to attend, but we ended up with a total of five congregations from the Atlanta South Circuit attending. The workshop was held at Faith Lutheran Church in Marietta, Ga. These are the congregations which have said they will at least evaluate and pray about the idea of planting three to four new congregations by the year 2017, the 500-year celebration of the Reformation: Christ Our Savior, Hampton, Ga.; Christ Lutheran, East Point, Ga.; Lord of Life, Stockbridge, Ga.; Peace Lutheran, Decatur, Ga.; and Villa Rica Ablaze! Mission, Villa Rica, Ga. There were also nine other congregations present from Atlanta’s North and Central Circuits and a total of 37 people attending. The training was led by the Florida Georgia District Mission Executive Rev. Doug Kallesen. Pray for their success in developing and planting new church starts. Ablaze! Atlanta Mission thanks you for your support!

We are in the process of starting a new congregation in Riverdale, Georgia and we need your help filling these seats for the Lord. Let us know if you have family members or friends in the Atlanta area who need a good church home. We would love to contact them and invite them to be a part of this new congregation. You can send us their contact information via e-mail to office@aliveatchrist.org or call us at (404) 767-2892. You can also help us by letting your family member or friends know that you have given us their information. This helps us to establish a relationship in advance of our call or e-mail. If you are in the Atlanta area visiting, stop by Christ Lutheran Church in East Point, Ga., and get a sense of what the new ministry will be like. Why you ask? Because Christ Lutheran Church is sponsoring this new Atlanta Ablaze! Mission Start!

Special Event at Riverdale Mission: For its first event, the planting team for the development of the Riverdale Mission held a community-wide event focusing on children and youth. Over 200 children, youth and adults from the Riverdale community came out to enjoy the festivities and had a great time doing so. The event opened with contemporary praise music led by Vicar Mike Case from the Villa Rica Ablaze! Mission and liturgical dance by the Tayo Reed Dance Company. The day ended with motorcycle rides, prayer and an invitation to become a part of this new ministry!
