From GEO missionary Lynne Hoyer in South Korea

“One of our students in Asia won a university-wide competition to go to Texas to study and live with families for about six weeks. He recently told me via e-mail that he was going to be baptized in Texas. My team teachers in Asia have indicated that he is now attending worship at the local church in Asia. Also, one of the students who met for Bible study has begun attending worship, as have several others ‘out of the blue.’

“The next good news is that one of my students in Korea asked to study the Bible. We have met for about an hour weekly after English class. During the study of the woman with the issue of blood, my student said, ‘I want to touch Jesus, too.’ She has begun to attend worship at the congregation on campus, Korean language, and has registered for instruction leading to Baptism. I have introduced the student to the wife of the academic dean, who is happy to continue Bible study with her.

“I can’t describe the thrill to see someone receive God’s love through Jesus. I wondered why the student in Asia asked me to help him with his contest speech; he was not in any of my classes, I knew him only from the campus English club. I didn’t know why I was returning to Korea for service instead of my previous location. My own difficult life experiences and Stephen Ministry training prepared me to connect with the student in Korea. The eternal future of these students is not dependent upon me. If I had not been in these places, our Lord would have sent someone else. I was privileged to be present when these students responded to the Spirit’s prompting and asked to study Scripture.”
