Good news from GEO missionaries Raymond and Emilie Dubert in Taiwan
Mon, Nov 30, 2009

“Recently, I [Emilie] have had a few unique experiences within the school office that I would like to share. The environment in our office is usually work, work, work, but sometimes it just takes a change of scenery to get the conversations going! In mid-October, an English speech and drama contest was help in the city of Kaohsiung, about an hour and a half by train. Being that I was the teacher of all the students attending, I was asked to chaperone both days of the contest, meaning I would go to Kaohsiung and come back two days in a row. It was exhausting!
“The first day, I went for the speech contest with a student Cherry and Ms. Lin, a newer, younger teacher. Cherry is a Christian and asked to pray before the contest, before lunch, and after the results were announced. (Our school got fifth place!) Cherry wanted to give thanks for all the blessings God had given her. What was most exciting is that Ms. Lin, who is not a Christian, prayed with us. She and I also had the opportunity to talk more about Christianity and some of her challenges at the school. I pray that she continues to be open to praying for problems and seeing God working in her life!
“The next day, I accompanied Ms. Kuo and eight different students for the drama contest. The day was a lot of fun, but I was absolutely exhausted because it was the second long day in a row. The original plan was for me to take an earlier train home and Ms. Guo would stay with the kids to take them shopping in the ‘Big City.’ Through a series of events that I can only credit to the Lord, we all ended up missing multiple trains and Ms. Kuo and I had to stand next to each other on the same train home. God was working through our conversation where were able to get deep and personal about how she thought she ‘would be a Christian someday, just not yet.’
“She had so many questions and reservations about why being a Christian was so important and what the ‘big deal’ was. She had been told that she would go to hell without Jesus, but she just wasn’t ready to commit just yet. This conversation was one of the most incredible conversations I have had in my four years in Taiwan. I pray deeply that Ms. Kuo will let the Holy Spirit just take over and make a full commitment to the Lord. May we everyday witnesses in our office of the Good News that God has entrusted to us!”

Ray and Emilie,
What an amazing story to hear! It is awesome how only God can use complicated circumstances and make them into witnessing opportunities. Prayers and Blessings to you both!
