Good news from Deaconess Carol Halter in Hong Kong

halter_hong-kong_nov09-21

“As the days go by, many new immigrants from China have moved to Hong Kong, and they hardly know anything at all about the true God. Often they get involved in idol-worshipping-preparing incense, fruit, and vegetables to offer the false gods. Recently, I gave a lady a Christian workbook, since she was wanting to learn more about the Lord Jesus on her own. After reading the indicated Bible verses, she was to answer the questions in the workbook. When she returned the workbook to me, I saw that the answers to the questions were randomly filled in here and there-and with different handwriting! What happened is that whenever she or her husband had time, they would open the book to any page and answer the questions. They didn’t think it mattered whether or not the book was done in order or who did what part of it.

“Another lady had heard about Baptism, but she told me she was not ready to be baptized. Why not? Because she felt her prayer life was not good enough. Come to find out, sometimes when she prayed she was distracted when her baby cried. To her this meant that she did not have her heart totally in her praying, and so wasn’t ready to be baptized.

“These people are so precious to me and I do so long that more and more of them will come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Your prayers for them are much appreciated. Though there are challenges with bringing the Gospel to those who have never heard before, I would join with St. Paul who said that his ambition was ‘to preach the Gospel not where Christ has already been named, lest I build on another man’s foundation’ (Rom. 15:20). Praise God for every opportunity we have to share the Good News with others! May He grant us His Holy Spirit to have the wisdom to know how best to proclaim His Gospel.”
