At the 64th regular convention of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, Chaplain Rodger R. Venzke, United States Army (Ret.), was presented the silver St. Martin of Tours medal. The award is given for exceptionally meritorious service to military personnel by LCMS World Mission’s Ministry to the Armed Forces.

Fan into Flame congregations recognized, campaign extended

The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod Convention honored three congregations for their outstanding efforts to raise funds for the Synod’s Fan into Flame campaign in support of Ablaze! mission initiatives. Fan into Flame, the six-year-old campaign to raise $100 million, has raised $58,900,172 in gifts and pledges as of July 1.

What many of my Guinean friends have seen is how God answers prayers prayed in Jesus’ name. His healing and mercy in their lives is revealing a loving God, with whom they are not very familiar. Even describing God as a loving Father isn’t something to which many people here can relate.

Delegates and participants at the 64th Regular Convention of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, in Houston, Texas, were encouraged in their own outreach ministries as they heard from Rev. Ed Nicklas and Rev. Dustin Lappe. Nicklas shared the mission revitalization story of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Plantation, Fla., and Lappe shared the church-planting story of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Aurora, Colo.

Six missionary veteran couples were honored this week at the 64th Regular Convention of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod in Houston, Texas. The missionaries, who were recognized by Synod President Dr. Gerald B. Kieschnick, together represent more than 220 years of service on the mission field.
