Serve Now Spotlight: Poland
English Bible Camps
“Join the excitement! The Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Poland, through its Center for Mission and Evangelism (CME), is again requesting teams of Lutherans from the United States to come and help them reach out to the lost in their communities in July 2011. This is the third year that LCMS congregation will partner with Polish Lutherans to provide these camps. Teams will arrive in Poland on a Thursday. During the first three days, the teams will learn about mission work in Poland, experience some of Polish culture, work on final lesson planning and travel to their locations. The English camps will begin on Monday and end on Friday. The camps will be divided into two time slots—morning and afternoon. The morning session will focus on learning English and Bible study. The afternoons will consist of activities—for example: craft projects, music and sports such as basketball, baseball or soccer depending on the gifts and talents of the team. Join the many Lutheran congregations who now have witnessed first-hand what God is doing in Poland!”
Relationship Builder through EFL
“Still recovering from the horrors of World War II. But, it is not a bleak place. The streets are lined with old-world buildings made of stone. The aroma of freshly baked bread floats on the air. In winter, snow blankets everything. Each day, you get to work with local students, teaching English and leading Bible studies and youth groups. Yes, they are a challenging group, but you know that the rewards are great. Show them Christ as you share their life, their world.”
God knows us and what we need. He sent his Son, Jesus, to earth, so that we may have life, and have it to the full. Through faith in Jesus’ death and resurrection, our relationship with God is restored and we have life. LCMS World Mission’s GEO and short-term missionary programs focus on building relationships and sharing the Gospel with people through those relationships, as well as connecting locals to career missionaries and national churches to continue building relationships. The people touched by GEO and short-term missionaries need the same thing we all do: true life in Christ. By serving for 1-2 years or even two weeks, you can help our missionaries and national churches in their efforts to introduce people to a true life in Christ.
