Missionary family's night watchman studies Christian faith in Guinea

A big highlight of our week came when our night watchman, ‘Allan,’ told us that he has been watching us work for the past several months and he sees that we do the same type of work that Jesus did. He hold us he believes it is important work and that it is definitely God’s work. Although Allan is a Muslim, he told us he loved Jack and Jack’s religion and that he wants to learn about it. He said he knows that you must study about a religion to know the truth and he said that he wants to know the truth.
Allan shared that he has had many friends throughout his life who are Christian and that he has always wanted to know more about what Christians believe. He asked us if we could teach him. He reads and writes French very well and he is very bright. We gave him the four Gospels in French and another book, ‘Jesus and Mohammed.’ Each night, he sits on our porch where we have an electric porch light and reads for hours. We have had some great conversations with him already and plan to meet with him each Saturday evening with one of the leaders from our church to discuss the book he is reading, as well as answer any other questions he has along the way.
