Celebrating ministry among deaf people in Macau

This update was shared by LCMS missionary Deaconess Carol Halter, who serves in Hong Kong.

Macau is a one-hour trip by boat from Hong Kong, where I live. God is doing so much on the Macau mission field! For the past seven months, we have been having many programs for the deaf there. Now, twice a month, we have a group of about 20 deaf adults between the ages of 25 and 45 who come to learn more about God’s Word. We begin with a meal and then have the fellowship time, which includes the recitation of their theme Bible verse, Psalm 119:105, ‘Thy Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.’ We sing songs, which means that they do the signing together while one person points to the words. Then, we have a speaker who uses PowerPoint pictures, Chinese words and sign language to bring the Gospel message. They have named their fellowship group ‘Hear the Word of God Fellowship.’ Join me in giving thanks and praise to God for what He is doing among my precious, beloved deaf people in Macau.”
