“God and His ways continue to amaze me. My friend Evie has often mentioned she’d like me to go with her to greet her family in another town, but I don’t often travel there. Another thing she and her husband both mention frequently is that I don’t lie; I do what I say I’m going [...]
“In December, we were anxious to make our last visit to the Kono District of Sierra Leone, where we planned to do agricultural training in four locations. We felt joy and a bit of anxiety about the opportunity to teach in Boindu, a new location for us in the extreme eastern edge of Sierra Leone, [...]
“‘Now Thank We All Our God!’ Although Thanksgiving is now over we still rejoice in the many blessings God has given. Pastors David Punjugu and Daniel Diabaté are co-workers in the Gospel working in Bamako (the capital city of the country north of us) who came last week for the evangelism program that I asked [...]

He wrote, ‘Recently, our team was in Washington, D.C. doing a service event with Samaritan’s Feet ministry through a local church there. While serving there, we met two people from Kenya. It [...]
“I was shocked at how many opportunities God provided for me to have great spiritual conversations and occasions to share my faith during this past month, with friends and strangers alike. On days that I would greet in the market this month (which was usually four days per week), I never had less than three [...]

Bishop Paul Kofi Fynn of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ghana officiated the ordination, and Rev. Claude Houge represented LCMS World Mission. Other guests included Pastor Jacob Bisi and Pastor Edward Nzeme from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sudan. Photo from [...]
“The first weekend in July, we set out for the Runyankole-speaking area of western Uganda with 500 copies of Martin Luther’s Small Catechism in the local language which had recently been made available to fellow missionary Rev. Jacob Gillard. In each of the 10 congregations we visited on that trip, we encouraged use of the [...]
I saw new faces at the recent seminary graduation ceremony that I had not seen before. When I inquired, I was informed that the new faces were those of members of two new churches that the students had been planting throughout the year. It was not a class assignment, nor even a part of [...]
